about
engineered, produced, and mixed by edsel holden at red act studios. summer of 2015.
mastered by jesse cannon
i spent a handful of days hiding out in edsel's nest in the summer of 2015. i was about to leave nashville for a summer of movement followed by a move to across the ocean to abu dhabi. neurosis, inspiration, and energy were on high. edsel cultivated an environment where i felt challenged to do my thing- try weird stuff and give in to my intuition, while also subtly sculpting the songs and encouraging things in a specific direction. we surrounded ourselves with sick people- dylan, nick, christian, robbie- and they all deeply influenced the feel of the song. i'm proud of that.
lyrics
i've crawled through a cave or two / it's been awful dark in here
thank god for dumb luck a few have woken me up / i can't escape that year
i'd kill for a view of the river with you
chicago you make me weak
i bounced off you and shot straight to the moon
bye bye, gravity
not now, daisy / put the top down, baby
it's hot / i could care less
not now, daisy / my head's too hazy
hold up, are we there yet?
me i was a bucket seat on a ferris wheel all broke down
for a decade now i've spun no one around
no new loves or families
i swear i saw a fire in a forest painted black
so i followed the gleam / wait where were we?
whatta ya know / i lost track
not now, daisy / put the top down, baby
it's hot / i could care less
not now, daisy / my head's too hazy
hold up, are we there yet?
me i ate the machine / by that i mean it swallowed me
don't come around here / don't come around here
come on, they're just being kids / how could you resurrect someone like this?
don't come around here / don't come around here
